UTILITY
UTILITY is a study of two different objects : GOBLETS & CANDELABRA.
Moving towards DESIGN and FUNCTIONALITY, both approaches are related to the idea of how we create items, applying arrangements and features in order to conceive something visually original, with high artistic value and with purpose. Objects that hold an aspect of practicality, but have been made following lines of asthetics and beauty.

CANDELABRA
This is a private commission from a client. It is made of cast bronze. It is a unique piece. The inspiration for this project comes from Gestalt Theory Psychology on one hand and represents family conections on the other. The final completed piece evolved during the process of its construction, and reflects all the requirements that were discused during the design and the making of the parts.
The piece has been made in three sections. Eight candleholder arms were welded in ascending and descending movement to a central stem with a candleholder on top that supports them. The stem was attached to a star shape base with undulating limbs. Each arm has a semispherical receptacle as a holder for each candle. The colour patina applied starts with brown on the base,evolves to green and finishes with small shiny polished cups . This creates a distinctive visual disparity which makes the piece very special.
GOBLETS
GOBLETS is a collection of 5 original designed pieces of wine glass combining two different materials. Each design is made with a cast bronze stem connected at the bottom to its circular base. On top, a small shape makes it possible to fix the neck of a glass receptacle to it. The glass wine receptacle comes from contemporary designed brands and it's a machine manufactured product. That allows for experimentation with different shapes depending on the use. The dialogue between the hard, cold part of the metal which supports the delicate glass holder creates a contrasting feature. In fact, it is heavy and irregular. A hand made work of bronze that embraces the fragile clear perfection of the glass. An unusual and beautiful contrast. Two different expressions that complement each other.
DANCING MUSE GOBLET is an unique piece using female human form as a shape to attach a wine glass receptacle. Both elements in the design are hand made. The bronze figure has been modelled and cast in bronze as a single piece. The shape of the glass has been made by the blowglass technique in a Glass Art Studio and is a single piece as well. The two sections in the composition share the same dynamic of handmade and reflect movement and flow energy. The inspiration for this work comes from the Greek god Dionysius, dedicated to the wine,winemaking, fertility and the muses associated to the rituals.
