BOTANIC GARDENS

'Sculpture in Context ' is an annual exhibition held in the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin. It is a pivotal event in the Irish arts calendar and attracts a large public and critical audience. The artistic integrity and technical expertise involved in creating the works is evident throughout the selection of artists exhibited. The exhibition highlights the creativity, talent and skills of the richly diverse character of Irish and international contemporary sculpture today. It's a unique opportunity to create a three-dimensional form that is designed specifically for the artists chosen site. It has to be semi -permanent for a period of time which stimulates a dialog between the piece, the natural location, and the visitors.

Most of my sculptural work for 'Sculpture in Context' exhibition is related to the natural world and the human configuration... There is in art no image more evocative than the human form. When it is surrounded with Nature and anchored on the ground in the extraordinary setting of the Botanic Gardens the sculptures absorb the sense of life, the fundamental human presence that I wish to convey in my sculpture.
